Its almost winter break and we have a lot to do this week! First, both Mrs.Mercer's and Mrs.Doherty's students have a math test this Wednesday on division. Be sure to study!
Last week we started writing our Olympic papers. Students got to pick an Olympic sport and research about their sport. This will be due on Valentines day. Also, this Friday we will have a Valentines party in our classroom with refreshments. Students will decorate a paper bag while others put their simile or metaphor writing in about that person. This week students will have to write a simile or metaphor about everyone else in the class. Even though the party is Friday we would like these done by Wednesday!
Also last week, the Museum of Science came and explained Simple Machines. Two students even lifted a Fifth Grade Teacher. See pictures below.
We are also going to watch Fantastic Mr.Fox this Friday because we have reached 500 tickets! Students earn these tickets when found being quiet while the teacher steps out of the room or we get a compliment about good behavior from another teacher. We will send home a permission slip this week for the movie since it is rated PG.
Today, we had the Scholastic book fair where students got to go up to the library and pick out books to buy. If you forgot to send money you will also be able to go Tuesday and Wednesday night. Lastly, we would like to wish a happy birthday to Justin his birthday being next Friday! We hope everyone has a great Valentines day and winter break!
Sincerely,
