I hope you are enjoying your long (although wet) holiday weekend. I recently sent an email with a welcome back letter to families. If you did not get the email or have trouble updating the Google Form, please let me know.
So, What did we do last week? Last week, we spent time getting to know each other and getting organized. Students had a chance to meet the other teachers on the team. We also had a Fifth Grade Class meeting with our new principal, Mrs. Kenny. Mr. Slomski was also at the meeting. He discussed the Mill Pond Touchstone and our first key value; Respect.
Where did we put those headphones? I asked myself that question this weekend when my Fifth grader was looking for them. At the end of last year, your child brought home headphones. Please return them to school, if you can't find them send me a quick email.
This week we will hit the ground running. Students will begin to switch classes among the team for math, social studies and science. We will also talk about our summer reading and story maps. These forms need to be returned this week.
As always, do not hesitate to contact me with any questions. I look forward to working with you and your child throughout the year.
I almost forgot!! In an effort to get to know each other, students listen to a YouTube video and then wrote statements about who they are. You will see their statements at Open House on the 18th, but here is a sneak peak of the video. (We are never too old to love Sesame Street). Enjoy!!
