Well, I never considered myself a "green thumb". Myself along with 100 fifth grades planted 384 seeds (12 seeds per team, 8 teams per class, 4 classes). I am happy to report they are growing. I will try to remember to take pictures this week. Our science class has been really hands on and the students have been following right along. Some of your homes might have a Ziploc bag with kidney bean inside stuck to a window. We studied the parts of a seed and learned about germination. I asked the students to keep some record of their "at home" experiment.
Orchestra, Band and Chorus are in full swing. Students have started their lessons. Although lesson schedules rotate weekly, some weeks students will miss an academic class. We have instructed and encourage students to visit those classes they missed at recess to get caught up. If you have any questions about Fine Arts please do not hesitate to contact me.
Must Read Mondays! is tomorrow. Instead of asking students to read 20 minutes a night, I am asking students to read at least 2 hours a week. I have many enthusiastic readers in my homeroom, so I can't imagine this will be a problem.
Lastly, but certainly not least I was so pleased with the turn out for open house. If you missed my presentation, feel free to browse the slides. It was such pleasure meeting all of you. Your children are amazing and I love being their teacher. I know along with your support, we will help them thrive both academically and personally.

A quick heads up about this week! Picture Day is Tuesday (our time is in the afternoon). I am hoping to get students outside later in the week to explore leaves in woods near school. I think I have all my permission slips, if not I will be sending it home again or you can click here to print and sign. This Friday period 8, is "Read and Relax Friday" I will send more information about this home tomorrow. Click here for the memo.
I hope you are enjoying this beautiful weather. Have a great week.
