April showers bring May flowers? It honestly doesn’t feel like May, however the calendar proudly announces that Spring is here. May is a busy month on the Aloha Frog Team.
May 6th is Colonial Day.
May 10th and 11th Science Technology and Engineering MCAS
May 13th is a half day.
May 18th, 19th and 20th PARCC English Language Arts
May 23rd, 24th, 25th and 26th PARCC Math
May 23rd 5th and 6th grade band concert
May 30th No- School Memorial Day
May 31st - 5th and 6th grade orchestra concert
As you can tell students will be working hard each week to complete state testing, but there will be fun and engaging events too. Students will be preparing for the Aloha Frog Revolutionary play, designing and creating catapults in science, and researching individual topics for Science Showcase on June 6th.
I am so proud my students. Their disaster projects were so impressive and their ability to manage new technology is wonderful. We are currently working on various persuasive essays and many smaller engaging writing assignments. Students are getting close to their goal for DEAR books. We have earned enough “tickets” that soon we will be planning a celebration.
This time of year is a special time for me to reflect. I love to look back on my student’s progress, the community of friends we have built and wonderful relationships I have fostered. It will be difficult to see them move on to sixth grade.
