It was great seeing everyone again today and starting the year off right. Everyone seemed ready to be back and was anxious to catch up with friends. As always we have a busy schedule ahead of us. I am so proud of the student's work "last year". Their kamishibai's (Japanese Paper Story) were so creative and the illustrations were amazing. They were excited to complete the project and their enthusiasm was evident with their finished product.
To date our class has collectively read 250 books. That is an average of 13 books per student. Thank you for encouraging them to read at home. Many students are taking home books from our classroom library each night. Let's keep it up.
On a quick note, we will begin soon a new research, writing and technology assignment. The students will review Nonfiction Text Structures and Features over the coming weeks, while continuing our understanding of figurative language (similes, metaphors, personification).
The students all have Google Accounts now! We are so excited to use this technology and our team IPad cart was just delivered before Christmas. As you can tell, we have exciting opportunities to learn and grow over the coming months.
Best Wishes for a Happy, Health and Prosperous New Year
