Prior to writing this week’s blog, I took my two dogs (Jasper and Mikey) out for a quick walk. I believe the temperature was forty degrees. I guess it’s time to take out the sweaters and put away my sandals. I do love this weather but it reminds me how fast the time is flying by at school. It has almost been a month and the students are settling in nicely. It was such a pleasure meeting each of you at Open House and sharing the outlook for the year ahead. As I said before, it is going to be a busy year. Our expectations are high and we know your child is up to the challenge. Our team has begun assigning homework and short term assignments. Please check the agenda or my homework page on this website for details. With each new school year there are different routines and expectations, I am very proud of each of the student taking responsibility for being prepared each day.
As the year progresses, the assignments and homework should be manageable. If your child or you have any concerns, please do not hesitate to contact me. We will foster their independence and confidence throughout year, your support at home is greatly appreciated.
We have several parent teacher conference dates coming in October. We meet as a team for conferences; each child does not receive parent teacher conference. You should be hearing from the team shortly if we feel a conference is necessary. However, if you have any concerns I can certainly make arrangements to meet with you as well.
Tomorrow is a one hour early release from school. Please check the classroom calendar for additional dates.
Also, a big THANK YOU to Jenn Coleburn (Gabe’s mom) and Lisa Chace (Ian’s mom) for volunteering to be room parents. Our team is still looking for volunteers on Wednesday Activity period from 10:35 to 11:22 to supervise students while we attend various curriculum meetings. This does not have to be every week and multiple volunteers can switch off. Any assistance you can provide will be outstanding.
Lastly, this Friday will be Read and Relax. I will be serving the students hot chocolate while we read and relax. No donations are necessary at this time (I still have lot from last year). Please allow your child to bring a mug from home that they can keep at school.
Wishing a relaxing Sunday and awesome week ahead.
