“In class we’re doing many interesting things. In Social Studies we are learning about many different explorers from long ago. We picked an explorer to study. It is amazing to hear about all of their journeys. In ELA we’re making short stories called Kamishibias. We get to use our imagination and think of an interesting story. Then, we have to illustrate our story, like a picture book. In science we are learning about food chains. It starts with the sun, and then goes to producer. Then consumers eat the producers. When consumers die, decomposers break the dead body parts to make the soil rich. In math we are learning new ways to divide with base-ten blocks. I never knew that there were so many ways to divide. We are also doing book clubs for Roald Dahl books. There is a summarizer, story mapper, question finder and vocabulary finder in each group. We rotate these jobs. We are also reading The Wanderer by Sharon Creech as a class read aloud. We track our thinking while doing this. That is what we did this week. “
As you can see our days are full of learning and sharing. It was fun watching and listening to the students review and write about our week. It is wonderful to see the growth in these learners.
I am very proud.
